The Ensemble Vocal “Col Canto”, created in 1999 by Julien Michaud, is made up of around fifteen experienced and trained singers. Since 2008 the musical director has been Nicolas Boisselier.
Since its creation, the ensemble has given over 100 concerts in the Poitou-Charentes region in France, notably taking part in festivals, and was invited in the Spring of 2014 by the University of Music of Warsaw to take part in master-classes for students of choral conducting. During this visit, the ensemble sang under Miłosz Bembinow, a Polish composer of whom Col Canto is particularly fond.
Col Canto has worked in partnership with other ensembles and groups, such as the chamber orchestra “A Piacere”, the Salisbury Cathedral Choir, the Plymouth Philharmonic Choir, the choirs of the French Army, and the Neva voices from St Petersburg.
On this CD there are three arrangements and an original work by one of the ensemble's members, Allan Mottram.
